It was so wonderful meeting so many of you at the Great Bridal Expo! We always have such a great time preparing for these shows. We introduced our new booth design just a few months ago and it has been such a hit! From our ambient up-lighting to our custom gobos, from our cool new DJ facade to our gallery-wrapped fine art canvas prints, we think we managed to give you a great preview of what we can do for your wedding. But you tell us – what do YOU like to see when you visit shows like the Great Bridal Expo?
We’ve been coming up with great ideas for what to give our brides who visit our booth at wedding shows. Right now we’re giving away gorgeous, perfectly-sized black tote bags. They feature our beautiful 84 West Studios logo in silver ink screen-printed right onto the bag. These sturdy, environmentally friendly tote bags are just perfect for shopping, trips to the beach, a stylish way to bring your lunch to work, or for holding your wedding planning materials and samples when you visit with vendors. They’re also great if you want an elegant black tote bag for the day of your wedding – maybe to hold a pair of comfortable reception shoes and any other items you may need that day that don’t fit into your bridal clutch.
They’re always a hit at wedding shows! If you would like one of our 84 West Studios bridal tote bags, we’d love to give you one! We’re currently giving one to every bride who makes an appointment with one of our event producers to talk about photography, DJ/MC entertainment, videography, and/or lighting & decor for their wedding.
Call us today to make your appointment, we’ll make sure to put your tote bag aside for you:Â (954)236-9000
Do you already have one of our tote bags? Please send us a picture of how you use your tote bag! We’ll pick our favorites and feature them here on our blog.
Today, guest author Heather Corrine of Signature Events joins us to discuss new wedding trends, including affordable, custom bridesmaid dresses, as well as three new color trends that will add a tropical pop to any South Florida wedding this year.
Off-the-Rack Bridesmaid Dresses – Trendy and Smart!
Â
Think outside the box: go for off-the-rack dresses for your bridesmaids | Anthropologie.com
For several years now brides have been choosing bridesmaid dress designer and fabric, then their bridesmaids choose the style that works best for their body type. The wedding trend for 2010 takes it a step further. Choose only the color then let your bridesmaid find an off-the-rack dress of their choice. Not only does this alleviate some of your stress, it also ensures that the women are choosing a dress that they like and might actually wear again. This creates a trendy, custom look that also makes it more affordable for your bridesmaids to participate. Be sure to tell your bridesmaids how formal the dress should be BEFORE they go shopping – the last thing you want is to have one bridesmaid wearing a sundress and another wearing a beaded evening gown.
Handmade accessories add a personal and unique touch to your bridesmaid ensemble.
Clutches by ReJenerate, Hair Accessories by Nomsa, and Jewelry by ShySiren.
Pair off-the-rack dresses with custom accessories like silk flower brooches, bold jewelry, or vintage clutches. This will add an even more unique touch to your bridesmaid ensemble. Perfect for adding a punch of color and sparkle to black or gray off-the-rack bridesmaid dresses.

3 Color Trends for 2010 South Florida Weddings
Â
South Florida Wedding Photography by 84 West StudiosÂ
Black accessories and flowers are the wedding trend for 2010. Choose a black patterned table linen, black roses, and black rosette. For an even more dramatic look, use a combination of black and white.
Bright orange is making a comeback in 2010, this color works beautifully with soft peach undertones. You can add tiger lilies and orange gerberas into your bridal bouquet.
Bright yellow and turquoise shades are ideal for creating a tropical look this spring. These colors can be seen throughout the reception, such as ribbons on the favor boxes, in the bridal bouquet, and even in the cake.
Whether you choose a shocking orange ceremony, a romantic black and white affair, or a tropical scheme of bright yellow and turquoise, certainly with these color trends 2010 will be hosting bold, bright, colorful weddings.

Angela and Shawn are one of the happiest couples we have ever met! Their wedding at Jacaranda Country Club was fantastic. We love working with the staff at Jacaranda because they are professional and ready to accommodate your every need. We are so lucky to be working with fun, wonderful couples getting married every day!
Our favorite photo of Angela and Shawn is their first dance. We love the way the natural light makes the image glow.

How do I choose my Makeup and Hair Look?
Hint: It starts with understanding your true self.

Amy Palma helps a bride prepare for her wedding.
When you imagine your wedding day, how do visualize yourself? As an artist I can tell you what will look great on you and enhance your features, but choosing a wedding day look is not just about myÂ
professional opinion. It’s more about understanding YOU and your vision. That’s when the fun begins. Together we design a look that flatters not only your features but more importantly, your personal style.
Here is list of the most popular bridal looks for chic South Florida brides. Which one are you? South Beach Bohemian Bride, Oscar Night, Earth Mother, or Sex Kitten Bride.
Â
South Beach Bohemian Bride: Relaxed, Beachy, Romantic and Beautiful.
(Recommended for daytime outdoor events) She is a free spirit who looks as if she has been frolicking on a beach vacation the week before the wedding. Bohemian bride looks like she is not trying to hard, just naturally flawless, tan and glowing.
Makeup Ideas: Smooth, Fresh look. Flawless skin. Bronzey cheeks. Lots ofindividual eyelash extensions to make eyes stand out but look natural. Lips soft pink or soft nude with a gloss.
Hair Ideas: Beachy waves(Jessica Simpson style) Pull a few strands off your face and add small flowers or orchids for a more bohemian look. Loose”effortless” updo is also an option. Waves are loose and not too coiffed. The idea here is “effortless” beauty. Very modern, fresh,Â
relaxed and chill vibe.

 Â
Breakfast at Tiffany’s/Oscar Night Bride : Classy, Elegant, Glamorous and Sophisticated.
The Oscar night bride loves the finer things in life. Her wedding will be a grand affair and she will look like an A List star walking the red carpet as she struts down the aisle, all eyes on her. She wants to stand out, play up her features and is not afraid of a little drama. (Recommended for evening affairs).
Makeup: Eyes- Dramatic, Soft lips, False lashes. You’ve caught they eye of your groom, now all eyes are on you. Your eye makeup is dramatic, defined and can be smokey or done in cafe or plum in the crease. Dark brown liner and false lashes. Lips are soft so as not to distract from your eyes. (Otherwise you will look like a 1980’s anchorwoman.) Soft Eye makeup, more dramatic lips. Classic Movie Star Look of Yesteryear. Think Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe (Christina Aguilera channels this look today.) Eyes can be soft with a gold or champagne shimmer, classic retro inspired black liner and false strip lashes. Lips are stained in merlot, or a daring crimsonred. This lookÂ
is not for the faint of heart.
Hair is more coiffed, sophisticated and structured. Bigger curls, hair can be teased at crown for more volume and worn half up, half down with some bling on your headpiece or a classy vintage brooch. Classic updos also work with this look.
Â
Â
Earth Mother Bride: Fresh, Very Natural, Earth Mother bride never wears makeup but knows she needs it to look good in pictures. You may be afraid of makeup and don’t want to look fake. It’s OK. Take a deep breath and we will take baby makeup steps. We promise not to cake it on!
Makeup: Eyes are soft and natural with soft neutrals for natural definition and a maybe a subtle hint of gold. Cheeks are Rosy or Peachy. You will look healthy, fresh, innocent and youthful.
Â
Â
Sex Kitten Bride: Lots of Lashes, Glossy lips. Hair is loose big and flowy with lots of volume and body. Clip in hair extensions are a great option to and length, volume or subtle highlights to her hair. Sex Kitten bride wants to look like a Victoria’s Secret model. She is sexy and sensual in a classy way and in touch with her feminine and girly side.
Makeup: Eyes can be smokey or dramatic, lashes are a must, lips a pale glossy pink and skin flawless and smooth.

When our good friends Nancy and Angelo’s son became engaged, they came to 84 West Studios to help plan their wedding. Brittany was a beautiful bride and the entire family was filled with tremendous emotion on the wedding day. The best man’s speech was one of the funniest I’ve ever heard! Not to be outdone by his son, Angelo, the groom’s Dad, delivered a speech so funny we thought we were in a comedy club! Brittany and Mark had their first dance choreographed, much to the delight of the guests. Their lovely, rich palette of green, sage, cream, and champagne really matched the beautiful venue. We love outdoor wedding ceremonies at the southern-style white gazebo at Jacaranda Country Club in Plantation, Florida, and their reception room is just as lovely with lit ceiling draping and huge bay windows.
Here is an engagement session we did recently that we absolutely love! Bela and Jaime have so much personality- it really came through in these shots. Downtown Ft. Lauderdale’s Las Olas Riverfront offers a colorful, almost Art Deco inspired urban backdrop that is unique to South Florida. It turned out to be a perfect match for Bela and Jaime! We love how the Sun Trolley is driving past our couple in the first shot.
Every year school begins in August. If you’re a parent, that means going back to your school year routine. If you’re a student, it means going back to your studies and your friends. For 84 West Studios, it means going back to school events. I’m not talking regular parties here- I’m talking about “edutainment” (or educational entertainment) events.
If you have kids in school, you know that throughout the year there are Early Release days in the school schedule. But do you know why these days exist? Teachers are required to attend classes themselves to learn the latest teaching programs or newest technology in order to be better prepared to teach our children. These early release days allow students to leave school earlier while the teachers stay at school and learn. So what do the students do when they get out so early?

There aren’t many hotels in West Broward that can host your events, but the ones that do exist offer plenty of reasons to keep you and your party out West. One such venue is the Crowne Plaza Hotel Sawgrass, also known as the Crowne Plaza Sunrise.Â
Recently Party Time provided DJ, Photography, Video and Lighting services for Stephanie Wallet’s Bat Mitzvah at the Crowne Plaza.  Brigitte Rivera and her staff were on hand to help create another spectacular event. Stephanie’s theme was Under The Sea, which was created with the help of lots of balloons in the shape of bubbles, fish, and coral, as well as sunken treasure decor. Larry Cooper of Moonlight Balloons created the Under The Sea theme, and when it was all combined with our teal and amber abient lighting it truly felt like you were under the sea!Â
